Teaching at RMIT
When I walked out of RMIT’s Building 94 on the final day of my Professional Writing and Editing course, I was slammed by a wave of sadness at the thought I’d never be back. I loved that course – not just the content and the skills I learned, but also the staff and the other students.
Four months later I walked back in as a sessional teacher in the Diploma of Professional Writing and Editing (Business). This year I am teaching in both the Diploma and the Associate Degree program. Specifically, first and second-year Professional Writing, Narrative Techniques for Effective Business Communication and Major Project.
(In the foyer of Building 94 stands a glass box with a display of some of our students’ work. Look closely and you’ll see a Miles Franklin winner, a worldwide best seller and a Stella Prize–winning author. Look even closer and you’ll see my book.)
