I was delighted when Writers Victoria asked me to be the guest editor of the Industry Insights issue of The Victorian Writer. It was a great gig – the issue includes great pieces by Maxine Beneba Clarke and Catherine Deveny and Mark Brandi recounts one of the funniest stories I have read in a long time. RMIT’s own Penny Johnson contributed a tough quiz for the grammar nerds, and my ex-classmate Eileen Ormsby writes about her literary speed-dating experience (spoiler alert: she got lucky). I got to source the cover artwork too, a task that was pretty easy after I stumbled on this pitch-perfect illustration by Steph Hughes.
Writers Victoria was where I went in 2010 when I decided I wanted to write a book. That first step led me to a publishing deal, a new career and a whole stack of new friends. I’m really proud to have been invited to work with them.
If you want to read it, you’ll have to become a Writers Victoria member. But why wouldn’t you?
