SPECIMEN 7
I’ll never look at banknotes the same way again. CCL Secure are world leaders in those colourful polymer banknotes that we’ve had in Australia for years. This edition of their trade magazine, SPECIMEN 7, covers issues like counterfeit prevention, how to manage public expectations when a reserve bank designs and produces a new banknote, and a tiny, tiny engraving of Jane Austen on four Bank of England £5 notes that the public hunted for with as much fervour as Charlie had for one of Willy Wonka’s Golden Tickets. As the editor, I also got to flex my mathematical muscles on some complex graphs as well as making sure the technical information was as clear and comprehensible to non-experts as possible.
