Conference triumph!

I attended the Institute of Professional Editor’s 9th national conference in May 2019. As well as doing the design and layout of the 100pp conference handbook, I volunteered to help with ushering and directing attendees and attended a couple of workshops (you may now ask me ANYTHING about Word macros!). I also had the great privilege of presenting a symposium on teaching trainee editors on behalf of RMIT University’s Professional Writing and Editing program alongside Liz Steele, Stephanie Holt and (in absentia) Penny Johnson. At the final session of the conference, we were gobsmacked and delighted to be awarded the inaugural Conference Abstract Presentation Award in the category ‘Advocacy and Leadership in Professional Editing’.

The feedback from the conference convenor was: “Your commitment to students and your enthusiasm for our profession was strongly evident, and the judges were unanimous in their decision.”

And we got a really nice certificate.
