I was so excited when my Twitter feed informed me that The Gigantic Book of Genes had been shortlisted for the Children Book Council of Australia’s Eve Pownall Award for information books that I literally squealed and jumped up and down on the spot. I’m honoured to be in such great company and really pleased that these awards recognise the work that goes into presenting complex information to children in a way that is interesting, engaging and fun. (And, just between us, my money is on Jennifer Cossins’ self-published A–Z of Endangered Animals.)
