Launch of student anthology

On Friday 27 November, I was delighted to help launch a new anthology of work from RMIT’s Professional Writing and Editing students. Frayed is a collection of fiction and nonfiction writing that has been written, edited and published by students from the course. It’s also the first publication from PWE’s new publishing arm, Clover Press. (Past students will know immediately where that name comes from!)

Tania Chandler and I took to the podium together to launch Frayed. That was extremely appropriate, as back in first year Editing, Tania was assigned to be the editor for one of my very first pieces of nonfiction writing. Tania is now a published author (her recently released thriller, Please don’t leave me here, would make a great Christmas gift). Other graduates helped out with proofreading, cover design and layout.

It’s one of the things I love about PWE: it’s like joining a huge extended family who are always there to support and encourage one another and also welcome and nurture new talent. And there is a lot of talent coming up through the ranks. Here’s a photo of just some of the people to keep an eye out for in the next few years.

Congratulations to all the Frayed writers and editors.
